I'll stamp all over 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be shown live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants met personally to publicize the upcoming boxing match.

Former twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally famous for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and labeled him "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in last year.

Financial Success

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Size Difference

As the two fighters met for the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is actually happening.
